Creative Play

WEEK 1

First I need to say I wrote this in a word document before it got deleted. In not sure what I put for week 1 so I can’t write that much.

Lesson 1 we looked over the brief.

WEEK 2

Exquisite Corpse Pieces

First thing to say is I could only make two as the third I was suppose to do went missing so I couldn’t do any legs. Now for the ones I did do I felt like doing a creepy theme. For the head I decided to do a bunch of small eyeballs surrounding one big eye ball. Around this is a spiked cloak collar thingy. As for the body I remembered the warden from minecraft and how its chest is open. So this one started out as a monster with tentacles coming from its back and ended as some zombie monster.

WEEK 3

Lesson 3 we learned some stop motion. First we did some south park videos. I haven’t watches the show so I can’t say much on it but for the second one I made multiple images of a stick man walking through the country side with pink clouds. I used different layers planning to move them but I didn’t have enough time.

WEEK 4

Some more stop motion work. This lesson we went to the stop motion room and me and my group planned out and made this dragon animation. I didn’t make the animation itself but I worked on the props and some of the planning.

I made all of the props out of paper and used coloured pens to colour it in.

WEEK 5

Today we learned some puppeting in after effects. We used a model of fin and a walking reference. Using the puppet tools I placed Finn in each position and the software filled in the rest.

WEEK 6

Flips books have always been really hard. Unlike stop motion where you at least have a model to move, a flip book you’ll have to redraw each images over and over again. Here I started with a simple circle and evolved it into a stick man who then leaps on the screen. This means the animation can loop over as the man jumps of screen on the same side he rolls on.

WEEK 7

Part 1

The first part of this lesson we remade the Finn Walk Cycle. This one ran a lot smoother though it only lasts for one second as I forgot to loop it.

Part 2

For the second half of the lesson we worked on a story board. Kat gave us 4 prompt sentence and I chose to do a ghost who’s house is being moved into.

Here is the first thing I did I got my ideas down onto paper. It’s one long idea that I kept adding to till the page was done. The story is of a ghost who lives in an old broken down house. One day people move in, a happy couple who want to rebuild the house to make something beautiful. The ghost tried to haunt them to make them leave but it isn’t effective. Turns out the cat can see the ghost. They meow at each other before the ghost gets annoyed punching the cat. Of cause the fist goes right through the cat but it gets spooked and starts running around crazy. The ghost watches the mess its made and slowly left the house.

I then made the 6 box version. This was made by taking out the important scenes of the mini movie and writing down whats happening in more detail.

With the extra time I had I started doing character design. The first two I did where the main characters. The angry ghost and grumpy old fat cat. I didn’t have any colours so all I could do was a quick design.

Sorry this images in on its side. This is the last concept art I did. The happy couple. This guys are mostly in the background or getting unsuccessfully haunted by the ghost. They like to rebuild things and do DIY so they moved into the broken house.
